The Breathing Body: An Exercise

Short thesis

This workshop will introduce participants to the breathwork practice, ‘Breath Experience’ which is derived from the work of the German teacher Ilse Middendorf.


Unlike many other breath practices, which often work with controlling the breath in different ways, ‘Breath Experience’ is based on the ‘allowing breath’. It emphasises allowing the breath to be whatever it is, allowing it to come and go on its own and have its own rhythm and flow.

In this workshop we will work with different simple exercises that can help us to access the sensation of the movement of our breath, encouraging more breath to flow in the body and a sense of gentleness and ease.
